LSU Honors 3.0 Student-Athletes Tuesday

BATON ROUGE, La. – Midway through the LSU men's basketball game against Georgia on Tuesday night, the LSU athletic department honored 190 student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade point average and above from the 2015 Fall semester.

Put on by the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, 19 of LSU's athletic teams were represented on the court of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in an event that also included the LSU cheerleading and spirit squad.

"We, in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes, are extremely proud of our student-athletes. We believe that academic success is a transformative and educative process," CCACSA Executive Director Kenneth O. Miles said. "Consequently, we transform student-athletes to scholar student-athletes; an accomplishment that requires a team effort from the staff in the center, schools and colleges, the athletic department, and the student-athletes."

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of an academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology team, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
