Tutors for the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes serve as an integral part of our students' learning process. Our tutors help students from diverse backgrounds to develop academic confidence with structured support and guidance throughout the semester.

There are several types of Tutoring Positions available at CCACSA:
Content Tutors - Seeking Tutors for MOST COURSES
Work with students in a
specific course to clarify learning problems and implement strategies that aid learning. Content Tutors conduct tutorial assistance in a way that caters towards Student-Athletes' learning styles. Content tutors have the ability to work in one-on-one sessions as well as in group sessions and are trained in the "Constructivist Teaching Model" to help guide students through each session.

Content Tutors may be an undergraduate student with a minimum of 30 credit hours accompanied with a 3.5 GPA or a minimum of 60 credit hours and a 3.0 GPA, a Graduate Student, LSU Faculty/Staff, or other member of the community. Content Tutors must have earned an A or B in the course they would like to tutor. Content Tutors are year-round hired from all course disciplines for Fall, Spring, Summer, and Intersessions.
Strategy Tutors
In individual sessions Strategy Tutors engage students in developing and implementing strategies to enhance their learning and successfully manage course objectives and tasks across several courses simultaneously. Strategy tutors are committed to ensuring the continued growth and academic development of our Student-Athletes. Their ultimate purpose is to facilitate learning and assist students in becoming independent self-sufficient learners.
In group sessions, Strategy tutors engage students in modifying academic behaviors and further developing academic study skills and strategies. Students use these skills and strategies to enhance their learning and successfully manage course objectives and tasks. Group Strategy Tutors must be committed to ensuring the continued growth and academic development of our student-athletes. Their ultimate purpose is to facilitate learning through critical discussions and assist students in becoming independent self-sufficient learners.
Strategy tutors must have an earned Bachelor's degree and display academic excellence in their prior and current coursework. Â Applicants with a degree in Education and/or teaching experience preferred.
SASP Tutors (Summer Only)
This position is specifically for those tutors that can help newly enrolled students establish values, traditions, norms, and expectations of an educational experience at LSU. This program is tailored to help prepare and equip freshman or junior college transfers to become effective problem solvers and critical thinkers, as well as develop their knowledge of the skills, strategies, and resources. SASP tutors assist students with their course work but are also a pivotal component to student-athletes' transition into the university and role as college students. SASP tutors must have an earned bachelor’s degree and display academic excellence in their prior and/or current coursework. Summer courses are writing intensive so preference is given to applicants with a background in English or Education, but all interested parties should apply.
