Walt Holliday joined the LSU family in July 2009 and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes.
Holliday is responsible for the internal operations of the Academic Center, and ensuring that the various needs of our students, staff, and faculty are met for the purposes of enhancing the quality of services and adhering to the university’s flagship agenda of Leading Louisiana and Impacting the World!
Prior to his current role, Walt served as the Director of Academic Affairs and lead advisor for the football program. Holliday was responsible for teaching them strategies on a daily basis to ensure success within the areas of academic and personal development. He also managed and supervised the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes’ Academic Affairs team and was responsible for providing leadership and direction in their pursuit to be leaders in the industry and profession.
In 2018 Walt received the LSU Foundation Outstanding Service Award, which is an annual award established to recognize superior work performance and outstanding contributions.
Holliday is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A). Walt served on the Executive Board from 2000-2002 as the Region I Director, 2013-20015 as the Region II Director, and most recently as the Division Director for Student-Athlete Development from 2015-2017. Walt also served as the Co-Chair for the N4A Student-Athlete Recognition Committee from 2005-2009. Recognized by his peers, in 2012 Holliday received the N4A Distinguished Service Award which recognizes leadership in N4A at the regional or national level.
Prior to LSU, Holliday served as Senior Academic Advisor at Rutgers from 1994-2001 for the men’s basketball program before moving onto Temple University where he served as an Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services from 2001-2006. He also worked as an Assistant Director of Academics at the University of Maryland, College Park for the football program from 2006-2009.
Holliday graduated from Upsala College in East Orange, NJ with a bachelor’s degree in communications where he also served as an assistant football coach from 1991-1994.
