LSU Academic Center for Student-Athletes

Maliah Mathis

Maliah Mathis

Maliah Mathis brings more than a decade of experience in youth development and nonprofit leadership, where she has designed and led programs focused on academic success, workforce readiness, leadership development, and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to thrive.

Maliah believes education is about far more than earning a degree; it is about developing the confidence, character, and life skills to thrive long after graduation. Her approach is rooted in building authentic relationships, meeting students where they are, and creating environments where they feel both supported and challenged. She believes consistency and effort matter more than talent alone, that mentorship can change the trajectory of a person’s life, and that gratitude for those who invest in us should be carried forward by investing in others.

Before beginning her career in youth development, Maliah competed as an LSU gymnast from 2010–2014. Returning to LSU has been a longtime professional goal, allowing her to combine her experience supporting young people with the perspective she gained as a student-athlete. She is honored to support LSU student-athletes as they pursue excellence in the classroom, in competition, and beyond.
